Two people, members of the GOPR, survived were caught in an avalanche and swept down a mountain but they survived. The rescuers were trying to save tourists who had gone to the mountains despite bad weather. It was very cold at that day and it was snowing heavily. However, the members of the rescue team did not hesitate to respond to an emergency call. They were risking their lives to save two irresponsible tourists. When they were climbing to reach them, an avalanche went down and caught two of the rescuers. They were carried down to the foot of the mountain.

The rescuers are currently recovering in the local hospital. Andrzej Sieliński, aged 43, has a serious knee injury and the second member of the team has a broken leg. They would stay in the hospital for a long time, however their condition is improving. They did not want to talk about the accident and the doctors suggest limiting contact with the media.

They knew that they risk encountering an avalanche because the level 4 avalanche warning was declared in the region they were going to. They had taken all safety precautions when they were going to rescue the tourists. They tried to minimize the risk, however, they were unsuccessful.

The other members of the team immediately alarmed the base about the accidents and a helicopter was dispatched as soon as it was possible. However, it could not reach the wounded rescuers because of the weather and thick clouds. The crew of the machine decided to return to the base because of the risk.

Because of the failure of the first attempt to reach the victims the team had to go down to them. They moved them out of the area hit by the avalanche and administered first aid. They were worried about their lives, when they saw them being caught in the avalanche. They suddenly disappeared from the sight of the rest of the team. At the beginning they could not localize them. They are glad that A. Sieliński and his partner got out of the dangerous situation with only relatively light injuries.

Having administered the first aid, the rescuers took the injured to the area where they could be easily transported to hospital. They took care of them before the help arrived.
