Our role in the European Union depends in significant degree on our society. We should try to exert more influence on Polish society. I think that the one way to improve our position in the united Europe is to transfer more money on education. The expenditure on the Polish schools should be much higher than they are today, because thanks to the system of different kinds of schools, we have well-educated and well-qualified staff in Poland. These people are our future and we should hope that they will try to improve the situation in our country. We shouldn't leave the education system to be created only by market conditions. Moreover, we should follow the example of these countries which spend much higher amounts of money on their education system. If we don't allocate more money on schools, we probably remain the marginal European country. In addition, we should make an effort to improve the quality of Polish education and provide the international exchange of students. The process of improving Polish education system won't last a day, it will take a lot of years of changes. So we should hope for the best that our children or grandchildren will receive the better education. The fact is: the more expenditure on education, the better the system will be. In this way Polish young people will receive the better qualifications and will fulfill international requirements.
So if we don't want to fulfill the unimportant role in the whole European Union, we should transfer more expenditure on educational system. The system should be improved, because on it our future depends.
Every year the expenditures on education are exactly estimated in one of Polish Parliament's resolutions. About 2% of Polish GNP is designated to the university education, whereas about 1% is transferred to scientific researches. Some people think that the sum seems to be too high, but in fact we spend much less money than other European countries. I think that we should insist on our politicians to transfer more funds for educational system. It will be the necessary condition to adjust the requirements of the European Union. The improvement of schools' system should be the part of the Polish strategy.
