Media are means of global information. They enable us to get to know about what happens in all places in the world. Several years ago the greatest media were press, radio and television. Nowadays, the most powerful medium is Internet.
If you have a computer and an access to Internet, you may get all necessary and important information. Whatever you want to know, you may either find the given data or ask the other users about it. Internet provides also the possibility to communicate. Nowadays we send no traditional post, but we use e-mails. It costs nothing and is much cheaper than usual post. Internet is at the same time a form of entertainment- you can meet people on chats, watch movies, play games and do many other things. It is also possible to get education through internet. We are free to surf and watch what we want.
Watching TV is different. Still for many people TV is the main source of information and entertainment. There are people, who can spend long ours watching TV. If you are interested in the news, you may find channels, which provide newest information from the whole world all the time.
Television is very influential and strong medium. It gives us information, shows, what happens in the world. Thanks to TV we are aware of all conflicts, wars, catastrophes, crimes, cultural and political events. What is more, on television people can watch interesting movies, programs, shows and other things.
Furthermore, the other type of media is radio. There are many radio stations and one can choose from the variety of them a good one. On the radio you cannot watch anything, but you can listen to the news, music and many kinds of programs. I know many people, who love listening to the radio, but there are also some who do not feel satisfied by it.
Besides the media mentioned before, there is also press. Despite there are so many kinds of media, press is still the most popular one. Many people cannot imagine drinking their morning coffee without a newspaper. Some read them only on weekends. My mother says that for her newspapers are the best source of information about the world. She prefers it to watching TV, listening to the radio or surfing in the Internet.
Most people want to be well informed about many important things happening in the world. All agencies connected with media send their correspondents to all possible places in the world.
In my opinion all people working in media should be very responsible and do their work ethically and professionally. The journalists have to respect the right of all individuals to have their private life. At the same time, they are responsible for informing people about all important things happening in the world.
Summing up, in the media we may get all necessary information. They also provide good entertainment and a possibility to learn much. We are free to decide, what we want to see or listen to.
