The addiction to different drugs became one of the greatest problems of the 20th century. Especially teenagers are exposed to the danger of drug addiction. They may try a joint on the party and soon after that, turn to injecting drugs. It is very easy to get addicted- sometimes it takes only few weeks. Teenagers often look for some extreme experiences, they want to discover secrets of life or widen their consciousness. When they take drugs, they feel powerful and very happy. The habit of taking drugs soon becomes the terrible addiction.
There are special signs showing that the person may be addicted:
- the addicted person may sleep longer than normally
- he/she eats much sweets
- his/her body is shaking
- they have difficulties with concentrating on something, they cannot read and learn
- they cannot think reasonably, if they have not taken the drug
- he loses contact with his family and friends.
There are many sorts of drugs, which may cause addiction. I am going to describe one of them- LSD. This drug is one of the group pf drugs called hallucinogens.
It is a very strong drug. One gram of clear lysergic acid diethylamide is enough to make 2000 doses. This drug has no smell and no particular taste. You may buy it in form of a tablet, capsule or simply- white powder. It easily dilutes in water and may be added to chewing gums, cookies or blotted paper. After some 30 minutes, they start to affect our brain. Their effects may be noticeable for 3- 12 hours.
LSD influences our emotions. It may make you feel euphoric, but soon afterwards, it may be replaced by severe sadness or even fear. When someone is under the influence of this drug, it may be difficult to say, what emotion they feel.
People, who have psychical problems, can even fall into psychosis under the influence of LSD. Although no death caused by the overdose of this drug has been reported, we know many people committed suicide, died accidentally or murdered someone under its influence. If the pregnant woman takes LSD, the child may become severely ill.
