Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a country in South Asia, on the island of Ceylon along with smaller offshore islands. Separated from the Indian Peninsula by the Palk Strait and Mannar Bay. From the east, it is surrounded by the Bay of Bengal, from the south by the open Indian Ocean. The country's largest cities are: Colombo, Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Jafna, Kandy, Galle, Kalmunai. It is a lowland country. The lowlands constitute 80% of its area. In the central-southern part there is a Precambrian mountain range, which is an extension of the Deccan. The coastline is not very developed. There are numerous coral reefs along the coasts. Sri Lanka has a tropical monsoon climate and a humid equatorial climate in the south. The average annual temperature is over 27 ° C, and the sum of rainfall is over 1000 mm, and in the mountains it is even 5000 mm.

Sri Lanka has a rich fauna, including the Indian elephant, crocodile, Indian cobra and leopard. Red soils are not very fertile here, and alluvial soils are fertile in a few places.
