All kinds of travelling
In the old days people used to travel on horseback. That kind of travelling took a lot of time and was very dangerous because in the forests near to roads there were often robbers. They often kill travellers and took their properties. But besides of all it was still a comfortable kind of travelling, because if you didn't have a horse you had to travel on your own foot.
When the steam engine was invented by James Watt travelling become much more comfortable and safe. In a very short period of time railway was developed and it connected people all over the Europe and then world. With the development of railway the infrastructure of many countries changed a lot.
Nowadays people travel in many different ways. They use cars, planes or trains. They even travel by jets or supersonic planes. Travelling become faster and faster day by day, but it also become more dangerous. There are a lot of car accidents or for example planes kidnappings.
But we have to remember that especially during last years in big cities new, or in some kind old, ways of travelling become more and more popular. It is travelling on your own foot or by bike. It become so popular because of a heavy traffic. In big cities people are always hurry and I think that those are sometimes much more faster ways of travelling then driving a car. So maybe it is true that we are coming back to old-fashioned kinds of travelling.
