On 1st May 2003 Poland became a mamber of the European Union. However, not all Polish people wanted it. They are aware that there are good as well as bad points of EU.
As citizens of EU, we may freely travel to European countries. There are many possibilities of cheap jouneys. We don't need to have visas and passports to cross the borders.
When we entered the EU, some things became more expensive. The price of cigarettes and sugar is much higher now than it was before the access to EU. Only the price of alcohol is lower now. In my opinion it is really not good for Polish people. They drink even more than they used to.
Polish people have a possibility to get money for some bsinesses from the UE. Perhaps we will be able to build new roads, renovate hospials and do many different useful things.
The fact that the market is open now causes also many problems. There is greater competition and many Polish companies may bankrupt. More powerful and wealty international companies are too strong and too infuential.
I cannot make my mind and say if I coonsider our access to EU good or bad. I don't have enough information about the profits and disadvantages of it. We are members of EU for too short period of time to make clear opiniion on this matter.
