It is very difficult to say definitely, which place is better to do the shopping. There are many good and bad points of both- supermarkets and corner shops.

The staff in corner shops is usually very nice. People, who sell in these shops know most of their customers. They may advice you, what to buy, they know, what your favorite products are. If it happens that you don't have enough money to buy something, they may let you pay later. You can always talk to the staff and you can be sure that you buy fresh products. Nevertheless, if you want to buy something in secret, you shouldn't do it in the small shop next to your house. The shop assistant may tell your parents, that you bought a beer or cigarettes. Another disadvantage is that there is not as wide variety of different products there as there is in supermarkets. If you have some special needs and wishes, you should rather go to supermarket to look for it.

Supermarkets are much larger than corner shops. The variety of products to buy there is much wider. More and more people do their shopping in such supermarkets. Many products in such shops are much cheaper than in small shops. You can buy there whatever you want and stay anonymous. However, there are many things which make supermarkets worse place to do the shopping. It happens that the products sold in supermarkets are not fresh. The customer has to be careful when buying something. You should always check the sell-by date. When you buy short-term products, you may ask, if they were kept in refrigerators and if they are really fresh. Unfortunately, the staff in supermarkets may lie to you so as to make you buy the product. There are several ways to make the product look fresh.

Summing up, both corner shops and supermarkets have their advantages and disadvantages. That is why I buy products sometimes in supermarkets and sometimes in small shops. I choose the sort of shop I visit according to the time I have and the products I need.
