Reality shows are getting more and more popular TV programmes in Poland. In such programmes, a few people are locked up in one house and the TV audience can watch their everyday activities. What is the reason for watching those shows? Perhaps they are trendy and fashionable, but it is more likely that people watch them out of curiosity.
Are there any positive features of reality shows? I think there are. People can be on familiar terms with each other, while the viewers can see the other people's behaviour in various situations. People who take part in a reality show can have much fun. It is doubtless that they can experience a lot of new things, they can make several new friends - or meet an enemy. One more advantage is the growing number of new faces in TV studios that are presented in a reality show. I can also see a few disadvantages of reality shows. First of all; they consume our valuable time. One can sit on the couch endlessly and watch what is going on in the show. It would be better to read something, revise for an exam or go jogging instead. The next fault of the reality show is the depravation of the young people's minds. They watch a TV programme, where they can see several strangers locked up in one house and shown at their daily activities. As they are supposed to do just anything, young people can learn some patterns of bad behaviour. There is one more disadvantage. There are too numerous reality shows on TV. There should be more movies, floor shows and educational programmes instead.
