Dear Sir/Madame

I am writing to apply for the position of a journalist at your company, as advertised in last week's Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper on 10th May.

Although I do not meet all the reqirements specified in the advertisement, I believe I am a good candidate to join your team.

At the moment, I am in the fifth year of my studies. I am studying history at the Jagiellonian University and I have good experience in journalism. For the last two years I have been writing articles for a students' magazine "Studiosus". Additionaly, a year ago I participated in the competition on the best article concerning the benefit of Poland's joining the European Union. I won the second place and was awarded a scholarship at the university in England. During the scholarship I had a chance not only to master my English but also to gain some experience at working with a group of people of different nationalities as I was responsible for an international project promoting new members of the European Union. In addition, I also cooperated with a local newspaper from my hometown, Nowy Sącz, for which I edited and corrected articles.

I am a creative, open and cooperative person having a strong sense of duty. I can speak English fluently and also basic Russian.

I enclose my curriculum vitae and a photograph, as requested, and also a reference letter. I would be happy to supply you with more details during an interview which I am willing to attend at any time. I hope you will consider my application.

Yours sincerely

Anna Kowalska
